Beer League 06-06-2008 Home | | | Breaking News | | Thursday, June 5th, 2008: Crocker Gets 5 Hits It seemed that Skinner's left fielder George Crocker could do no wrong today, but it still didn't come out right. The Pub still dropped the game to the Coffee House by the score of 8-6. He did all he could, rapping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but in the end, Java Joe's prevailed in the ballgame at Quest Ballpark.
"I felt real good today, but my best just wasn't enough. We didn't play well enough to win. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play. The balls just fell in for base hits. Some days they do that," Crocker explained in the postgame press interview.
G. Crocker singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off D. Sherry in the 9th.
This season Crocker is batting .636 with 63 hits, 18 home runs, 40 RBIs, .624 OBP and has scored 37 runs. | | Thursday, June 5th, 2008: Red-Hot Brownell Scorches Insurance Larry Brownell really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Colorado Springs Grounds, the Commerce left fielder blistered the Alpha Insurance for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a 15-9 victory.
"Brownell was too tough to get out today," the Insurance skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
L. Brownell singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
In the 2008 season Brownell is batting .505 with 48 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 29 times and batted in 28. | | Thursday, June 5th, 2008: 5-Hit Barrage by Harrell Steve Harrell told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Harrell of the Commerce Bank did against the Alpha Insurance. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Insurance, who suffered a 15-9 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
S. Harrell singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, tripled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off J. Navarro in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
Harrell is currently hitting at a .585 pace with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. | | | | | Yesterday's Games | | | | Away Team | Home Team | Result | Time | Winning Pitcher | Losing Pitcher | | Dairy | Doc's | 12-4 | 7:05 pm | D.Row (5-1, 7.74 ERA) | C.Kim (5-5, 11.40 ERA) | | Alpha | Commerce | 9-15 | 7:05 pm | E.Watson (3-2, 14.79 ERA) | J.Navarro (5-5, 12.30 ERA) | | Aubrey | Badger | 7-9 | 7:05 pm | G.Dimmick (2-2, 10.06 ERA) | V.Boomchenko (4-5, 12.23 ERA) | | Skinner's | Java Joe's | 6-8 | 7:05 pm | D.Sherry (6-2, 8.66 ERA) | D.Gonzalez (3-4, 9.86 ERA) | | Sunrise | Sid's | 6-10 | 7:05 pm | W.Riley (4-3, 9.82 ERA) | C.Bidwell (4-9, 14.51 ERA) | | Dew Drop | Diablo | 17-19 | 7:05 pm | U.Chacon (5-6, 14.68 ERA) | A.Carroll (7-3, 9.92 ERA) | | | Today's Games | | | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Doc's (8-11, Road: 3-6) | Aubrey (6-13, Home: 2-7) | 7:05 pm | LHP C.Kim (5-5, 11.40 ERA) | LHP E.Childers (1-8, 11.95 ERA) | | Dew Drop (16-3, Road: 6-3) | Alpha (13-6, Home: 7-3) | 7:05 pm | RHP J.Greene (8-0, 7.28 ERA) | RHP L.Bock (7-0, 11.27 ERA) | | Diablo (8-11, Road: 3-6) | Dairy (11-8, Home: 6-3) | 7:05 pm | RHP F.Rojas (2-5, 15.32 ERA) | RHP D.Row (5-1, 7.74 ERA) | | Java Joe's (11-8, Road: 6-3) | Sid's (9-10, Home: 6-3) | 7:05 pm | RHP T.Boyles (5-4, 11.55 ERA) | RHP D.Mckenna (2-4, 13.09 ERA) | | Badger (10-9, Road: 5-5) | Sunrise (6-13, Home: 5-4) | 7:05 pm | RHP T.Boudreaux (4-1, 9.60 ERA) | LHP A.Worrell (2-4, 11.55 ERA) | | Commerce (7-12, Road: 2-7) | Skinner's (9-10, Home: 5-4) | 7:05 pm | RHP C.Crenshaw (3-2, 8.06 ERA) | RHP X.Mitchell (5-2, 9.06 ERA) | | |
